In this video I’m sharing what I’ve been calling my “secret” to steady, continuous weight loss lately—because for the first time in a long time, it feels sustainable. If you’ve followed my journey, you know I’ve dealt with yo-yo dieting and binge eating disorder, and earlier this year I hit that hopeless feeling of “am I ever going to find something livable that doesn’t make me feel deprived?” That’s when I decided to try semaglutide (the generic form of Ozempic/Wegovy/Mounjaro), but I’m very intentional about how I use it: I stay at a very low dose (0.25) and I use it as a preventative tool to stop binge eating—not as a way to eat anything I want in smaller amounts. From there, I built an eating pattern that actually makes me feel good. After reading The Starch Solution by Dr. John McDougall, I leaned into a vegan approach (and yes, I started as a “junk food vegan” for a month to make the transition feel doable). Once I got more mindful—starting my day with fruit, starting lunch with a fibery green veggie like salad/broccoli, then having potatoes/rice with beans/lentils/tofu—I started losing steadily. I went from 193 to 172, and lately it’s been about 1–2 pounds a week, plus I exercise 2–4 times a week. I also share how being “flex vegan” (or “fliegan,” as my friend joked) helps me stay consistent without guilt on special occasions.
