Raise your hand if public speaking makes you nervous… because same. In this vlog I went back to Durham University (after being away for about two years) because they invited me to speak on a panel about fitness and social media. I’m actually confident talking about that topic, but I hadn’t done proper public speaking since uni, so it was lowkey daunting. I took you along for the full trip: the train ride, catching up with friends, seeing familiar places, and even a little “side quest” to find the top secret postcard view of Durham. To calm my nerves, I leaned into what always grounds me: a solid gym session and a bit of structure. I made the most of hotel breakfast (carbs, healthy fats, protein, fruit/veg—micronutrients matter), found a gym next door with a free pass, and smashed a leg day. Then came the outfit panic (smart casual but “no dress code”… make it make sense) and the actual panel. It started a bit shaky, but once I eased into it, it got so much easier. The biggest takeaway: you have to step out of your comfort zone to grow—fitness taught me that, and this reminded me again. And if you’re doing something scary right now too, Deuteronomy 31:8 genuinely helped me: God goes before you, He’s with you, and you don’t have to be afraid or discouraged.
