The hip flexors are a group of muscles in the front of your hip that allow you to lift your leg in front of you and are involved in SO many movements inside and out of the gym! WHY ARE YOUR HIP FLEXORS TIGHT? Sitting for long periods of time is one of the main reasons your hip flexors get tight so including a mobility routine like this regularly as part of your week can really help combat the adaptive shortening of the muscle and relieve tightness. WHAT IF YOUR HIP FLEXORS ARE PAINFUL? It’s super important to mention that not all hip flexor pain is related to tightness in your hip flexors. They may be weak or could be linked to the posture of your pelvis. The stretches in this video will help you feel hip flexor relief, but if you experience long term pain then please get checked out by your healthcare provider. About This Video

In this video I’m taking you through my go-to 15 minute hip mobility routine for when your hips feel tight and you want to move better—both in the gym and in everyday life. If you sit a lot (same), your hip flexors can adaptively shorten over time, which is one of the biggest reasons that “tight hip” feeling creeps in. The goal here is to open up the front of the hips, get some relief, and also build control so your mobility actually sticks. I also talk about something I really want you to hear: hip flexor pain isn’t always because you’re “too tight.” Sometimes it’s weakness, sometimes it’s tied to pelvic position/posture, and stretching alone won’t fix the root cause. This routine is a simple, repeatable way to reduce muscle tightness and improve hip mobility, but if you’ve got ongoing pain, please get it checked by a qualified healthcare provider. Use this as a weekly staple, especially if you’re training legs, doing a lot of walking/running, or you just want your hips to feel less cranky.
