In this video I review the Truthear NOVA, a brand-new hybrid IEM with 1 dynamic driver + 4 balanced armatures, and I’m still asking myself: how is it even possible at this price. I start with the unboxing and accessories, then go into build and comfort: glossy medical-grade resin shells with long nozzles, 6 mm nozzle diameter, and no mesh at the nozzle end—so you do need to keep your tips clean. Fit was very good for me thanks to the nozzle length, and the shells are lightweight enough for long sessions, but the stock cable is a weak point because it’s microphonic and the ear guides are oddly short. Sound-wise, NOVA is easy to drive (low impedance, high sensitivity) and my Galaxy S10 had no issues. The tuning is a warm-neutral presentation with a bass boost and a very Harman-friendly balance: sub-bass is the star—deep, rumbly, and well controlled—while mid-bass is a bit light on punch and body. Mids are clear with a touch of warmth from bass bleed, but lower mids can sound a little thin; female vocals, however, sound great. Treble is smooth, extended, and detailed without getting grainy or overly analytical. Technically, NOVA punches above its weight: large and deep stage, solid imaging, and detail retrieval that competes strongly in the sub-$200 category. It’s not perfect, but the overall price-to-performance ratio is excellent, and I can easily recommend it if you want a coherent, fun-yet-technical hybrid.
