In this video I review the SOFTEARS Volume S and explain why it genuinely surprised me—enough that I can see it becoming my daily driver. I start with the unboxing (and yes, the accessory set is huge): a leather case, two sets of silicone tips, a modular cable with 3.5mm and 4.4mm terminations, and even a tiny screwdriver for the impedance/tuning system. Then I go over the build: soft-touch medical-grade resin shells with an aluminum faceplate and carbon insert, plus the little potentiometers that let you switch the tuning. Fit and comfort is where Volume S absolutely shines for me. It’s one of the most comfortable universal IEMs I’ve ever tried—shape, nozzle length/diameter, weight distribution… everything just works, and I had zero fatigue in long sessions. After that, I break down the driver setup and the two modes: low impedance (9.8 ohms) and high impedance (31.2 ohms). Sound-wise, I spent three weeks testing both modes. Low impedance is my favorite: bold, rich, coherent, with exemplary bass detail, a lush midrange that still stays defined, and a slightly soft/rounded but well-extended treble. High impedance shifts the tuning a lot—less bass, hotter upper mids, more energetic treble, and it becomes less forgiving (sometimes borderline sibilant). At $319 it’s a serious purchase, so I recommend testing first, but it’s easily one of the best-sounding IEMs in its bracket.
