These are all what I’d call “accessible audiophile” picks—cheap, easy to drive, insanely good for the money, and all built on that classic Koss DNA… just with different personalities. I break down price (including the real-world cost of Yaxi pads and mods), then get into build, fit, and comfort—because with on-ears, comfort can make or break the whole experience. For sound, I go bass → mids → treble → soundstage, and the differences are actually pretty clear. The KSC75 is the brightest and widest, with clean punch but the lightest bass. Porta Pro is warm, fun, and bassy, but that bass can bleed into the mids and the stage is the narrowest. KPH40 Utility lands right in the sweet spot: tighter bass than Porta Pro, smoother treble than KSC75, and the most “middle ground” tuning overall. My takeaway: if you want sparkle and detail, go KSC75 (and mod it); if you want warm nostalgia, Porta Pro; if you want the best balance, KPH40 feels like the best evolution of the Koss sound.
