How’s it going—Kyle here from The Dive Wagon, and in this one I’m tackling a problem I know a lot of divers run into: scuba gear taking over your life (and your apartment). My equipment was everywhere—on the floor, in drawers, in closets (and other closets), in the storage unit, in the car… you name it. And the worst part wasn’t the mess, it was the inconvenience. When you can’t find the small stuff while packing, you end up showing up to the dive site missing the “minor things” you actually wanted. So I decided to build a dedicated “scuba closet” in our guest bedroom—one spot where everything lives, so I can pull gear off the wall while gearing up and pack confidently without leaving anything behind. I run to Home Depot, grab supplies, and try to keep the whole setup under 50 bucks. It’s definitely still a work in progress (I couldn’t squeeze everything in), but the big takeaway is simple: a home base for your kit makes diving smoother, faster, and less stressful. Next upgrade might be accent or LED lighting so the second I open the door, I can see everything and get moving.
