How’s it going, dive buddies—Kyle here from The Dive Wagon. In this quick scuba tip I walk you through how I change the blade on an Eezycut Trilobite line cutter. It’s a super handy little cutter that lives in a Velcro sheath, and you can mount it on your BCD (or anywhere really) using the webbing slot. The big win with this model is the replaceable blades, which is perfect if you’ve used it a ton and worn the edge down… or if you end up with a blade that’s gone rusty because it wasn’t rinsed properly (yep, that’s exactly what happened to the one I’m working on in the video). The process is simple: all I need is a small Phillips screwdriver. I pull the top and bottom screws out on a flat surface (because the little nuts can fall out), pry the two halves apart, and lift the old blade off the oval insert using a tool—because I’m not trying to slice my fingers open. Then I slide the new blade in (no up or down orientation to worry about), sandwich it back together, and tighten everything down with the nuts seated in their recessed slots. I also cover what to do with the old blade—dispose of it properly, or clean it up if it’s only lightly rusted. Happy diving.
