How’s it going, dive buddies—this quick scuba tip is all about one of those little setup details that makes a big difference underwater: tying bolt snaps onto your hoses and accessories. In this video I show you the simple method I use to attach a bolt snap to an alternate air source hose, and then I walk through the same idea on smaller accessories like a compact light. It’s quick, it’s clean, and it holds. All you need is scissors, a lighter, some cord (I’m using super bright pink so it’s easy to spot), and the right size bolt snap for the job. I cut about a foot and a half to two feet of line, fold it into a U, loop it through the bolt snap, and then wrap the two strands around the hose while feeding back through the bolt snap a couple times. After that, I do one more wrap but route the line around the sides, tie knots on opposite sides of the bolt snap, snip the excess, and then melt the ends down into the knot.
