About This Video

How’s it going dive buddies—Kyle here from The Dive Wagon. In this Quick Scuba Tip I walk you through how I replace replaceable silicone drysuit seals, starting with the neck and then moving to the wrists. I’m using an SLT (Seal Lock Technology) style setup, and the big win here is how simple the system is: the seal, the suit channel, and the retaining ring that locks everything into that groove. If you’ve torn a seal (which is usually why you’re here), you can pull the old one out, drop the new one in, and get back to diving without sending your suit away. For the neck seal, I show how I orient the yellow retaining ring (ledge facing up) and use the only tool you really need—the “fancy drysuit seal pizza cutter thing”—to push the seal evenly into the groove. The key is making sure the silicone doesn’t bunch or buckle, because that can compromise your seal. For wrist seals, I pop the inner ring out by pushing the outer plastic in, swap the seal onto the ring, and press it back in carefully. If it’s fighting you, a little anti-fog, soapy water, or even spit can help it seat without pinching.
