I literally hadn’t even started filming and I’d already spilled this gel all over the floor (and cracked the bottle), so that was the vibe for this first impressions review of the Eco Style Pink Curl & Wave Gel. It’s pink, it’s glittery in the tub, it’s affordable, and it claims “firm hold” (not max hold), so I went in with low expectations—especially because the Eco Style Argan Oil Gel gave me super loose waves. I also ranted a bit because I don’t know why hair brands keep acting like wavy hair only needs light/medium hold. For wash day, I shampooed and masked with Floral Superfruit, conditioned with Noughty Wave Hello, then on soaking wet hair I used a couple pumps of a Garnier aloe “hair drink” type product, detangled with my Denman brush, and did brush styling with smaller sections (thanks to Victoria’s tip). With Eco gels I’ve learned I have to be generous, but I also kind of chickened out because it felt like too much—so I scrunched a ton out with a towel before diffusing. The result surprised me: really pretty definition, soft hair, and it honestly looked better than I expected… just not glittery on the hair. Then I showed day 2 (mixed: some definition held, some frizz/looseness), and I tested using the gel on dry hair for a refresh. A little blob glazed and scrunched in, a super quick diffuse, plus my Reflex Curl Styling Serum helped it look more consistent—still a bit frizzy/greasy at the roots, but not a complete fail.
