But she posted an updated version, so I tested it on my fine, high-porosity, dense waves that tangle easily and struggle with volume. I don’t own her exact products, so I matched the “vibe” of what she used with what I had—then followed her steps as closely as I could (even though I was freezing, getting over the flu, and definitely chose the wrong cozy outfit for leaning upside down in the shower). I started with As I Am Dry & Itchy Shampoo (and yes, I complained about that hard-to-squeeze bottle), then followed with Mixed Chicks Conditioning Co-Wash, which honestly surprised me as a conditioner. After a tiny amount of a lighter mask (Flora & Curl) on the ends, I went in with Bouclème Super Volumising Foam at the roots—though three pumps was too much for me and I had to towel-scrunch out the excess. I scrunched in Garnier Aloe Vera Air Dry Cream (also maybe too much because I watched India use a giant amount), then finished with a lightweight, tacky gel and diffused. My final results were better than the older routine I tried: more volume than usual, quick and effortless styling, but my hair felt a bit producty. On day 2, the definition didn’t hold as well as I expected, but the volume was still there—just a bit messy-looking.
