In this video I did something I’ve weirdly never done on my channel before: I went to the drugstore and built a full wavy-hair washday using NON curly girl method approved products that have been popping up all over TikTok. I grabbed a mask, a clarifying shampoo, a conditioner I’ve always wanted to try, an aloe “air dry” cream as my leave-in, and then I did a styling experiment where I skipped gel completely and tried using hairspray for hold instead. My biggest takeaway is that the drugstore wash steps surprised me in a good way. The L’Oreal Dream Long mask didn’t wow me at first, but once I rinsed it out my hair felt super silky smooth, and detangling was way easier than I expected on a tangly washday. The clarifying shampoo foamed up instantly (which I honestly loved), and it left my hair feeling clean without making my ends feel dry. Styling-wise, the aloe cream felt like it wasn’t doing much for wave formation, and the hairspray experiment gave me lightweight, weightless hair and loads of volume—but the definition was a bit stringy and it dropped faster than I hoped (even though it claimed strong hold). The next-day waves held better than I expected, and it didn’t feel dry—just a bit frizzier, which I don’t really mind because it makes my hair look more voluminous.
