I tested the €30 Bounce Curl brush against a €3 Shein dupe on freshly washed hair to see if the hype (and the price) is actually worth it. I split my hair down the middle and used the same wash day products I’ve been loving from my ChatGPT routine (minus the oil treatment because I’d used it recently and didn’t want to overdo it). The two brushes feel surprisingly similar in weight and material, but the Bounce Curl brush has a more rectangular shape and narrower grooves, while the Shein one is a bit rounder with wider grooves and different row counts. While I was styling, I honestly kept waiting for a big difference… and it just didn’t happen. The clumps looked really similar, and even with the wider grooves on the dupe, I wasn’t noticing a change in definition. After scrunching, I used Only Curls gel (six pumps is my sweet spot), diffused, scrunched out the cast, and finished with a little Curly Secret oil. My final take: the Shein dupe worked just as well for me, and I couldn’t really see a difference between sides. If you want to support a woman-owned business and love the brand, the Bounce Curl brush is still a great buy—but if you just want the result, the dupe is a solid budget alternative (and a great backup brush).
