In this one I’m in the middle of finishing my Behringer PB1000 pedalboard build, so I grabbed the Behringer TU300 Chromatic Tuner and put it head-to-head with two tuners I actually use: the Korg Pitchblack (great live visibility) and the Headrush Flex Prime’s built-in tuner (which has improved a lot through firmware). First impressions? The TU300 looks remarkably like a Boss-style pedal, but it’s in that super lightweight plastic enclosure—if it’s not Velcroed down, it’ll blow away. I run through real-world tuning response on each string and compare how they “settle.” What I’m seeing across all three tuners is pretty consistent: an initial read that can be a couple of cents sharp, then it pivots a touch flat as the string tension releases and returns to its resting pitch. That’s where you’ve got to make the judgment call, and I still fine-tune by ear because the guitar isn’t perfectly in tune across the whole fretboard anyway. I also share my main tuning tip: always come up to pitch from below the note—don’t tune down from sharp—so you’re increasing tension on the capstan and locking the string in rather than leaving slack to slip later.
