About This Video

In this video I’m mucking around with the Laney LFR212 2x12 FRFR (800W) as an acoustic rig, and honestly—this thing is an absolute weapon. I’ve already done a video with all the electric guitar stuff, but I wanted to show how capable it is for acoustic because of that 1-inch tweeter. With my Maton 808 Performer (stainless steel frets because I chew through frets in 3–4 months), I’m running wireless into my HX Stomp for all the processing, then out to the Laney, and it’s bright, clear, and crisp like proper speakers should be. What surprised me most is how much it smooths out that piezo “quackiness” and how much bass resonance the cabinet has. When I kick on an octave, you can hear how full and present it stays, and with chorus you get those proper sparkly top-end details. I also show my acoustic solo patch (volume boost, delay, chorus), and talk through the back panel options like high filter roll-off, cabinet emulation, and the lights. For live use, it’s been more than loud enough—breathtakingly loud, actually. I’m in a three-piece with drums and bass, and this thing just eats everything alive, plus the angled design throws sound out into the crowd. Laney sent it to us, but it’s not paid—so when I say it’s doing the job, it’s doing the job.
