In this video I’m wrapping up the final layout for my current iteration of the Behringer PB1000 build. The missing piece was the Behringer TU300 chromatic tuner, which replaces the Korg Pitch Black I had in there before. I’ve already compared the TU300 against the Pitch Black (and the tuner in my Flex Prime), but here I’m showing how it actually sits on the board and behaves in a real chain. You hit the footswitch, it bypasses, and it takes a couple of seconds to track—then it’s nice and clear, which is exactly what you want on a dark stage. I also run through what’s on the board and how I’ve got it set: the tube amp modeler is on a clean Fender-style emulation, the vintage delay is living somewhere around 350–400 ms, and the reverb is on a “place” style setting. I talk about a few quirks too—like the acoustic modeler being “the noisiest pedal in the world,” and how splitting to stereo (like with the stereo chorus) can cost you some of that mono “beef,” so you’ve got to watch your levels. Bottom line: these compact pedals were built to be cost-effective, but whether you’d rely on this exact setup for a gig is totally up to you.
