About This Video

Right before we get started, I want to be clear: Viltrox did send me the DC-X3 for evaluation, but all opinions are my own. In this video I’m doing a full unboxing and setup of the Viltrox DC-X3 6-inch IPS monitor (rated at 2,000 nits), and I walk through the accessories, the physical buttons/ports, the menu system, and then I run some quick real-world tests—especially thermals, fan noise, and battery life. Out of the box, the kit is honestly stacked. You get a hard top (which I love—everyone else keeps throwing in those cloth hoods), a screen protector, cables (including full HDMI to full HDMI, which is the first time I’ve seen that included), a hot shoe mount, and a battery. I also show you how I use the shortcut keys: F1 for the big info tools like histogram/waveform, F2 for false color (my favorite), and how F4 opens the menu layers for scopes, peaking, zebras, aspect ratios, and image controls. For testing, I checked brightness with my meter and got around 1850 lux, which is not bad at all. I also compared false color to my Atomos Ninja V+ and it matched up well on a gray card and skin tones. Then I ran thermal/fan/battery: fan stayed around 50 dB, temps hovered roughly in the mid-80s to mid-90s °F, and at 50% brightness I got about 1 hour and 25 minutes before the battery depleted.
