About This Video

All right, all right—it's been a while since I did an unboxing, but with everything going on in the camera world lately, I wanted to do this one on-camera so you can see exactly what I got on day one. In this video I unbox the Canon EOS R6 Mark III, go through what’s in the box (manuals, ads, battery, charger, body), and I show how Canon’s packaging has changed. Back in the days I threw a fit because Canon used way too much plastic—this time the R6 Mark III shows up with recyclable cardboard, and I’ve gotta say that’s a very nice touch. I also talk about why unboxings matter: someone bought an expensive camera, opened it day one, and the manufacturer claimed “water damage.” So I’m checking everything right out of the box—dust from the factory is one thing, but I’m looking for damage, making sure the shutter looks fine, powering it on, and even popping open the sensor to confirm it’s clean and good to go. Canon still doesn’t ship a charged battery (serious, Canon? seriously?), but once I grabbed a charged one, the camera booted up and everything worked great. Finally, I note a small detail I actually care about: the R6 Mark III hot shoe cover is the thin plastic style, not the bulky one like the R5 Mark II—and I prefer this one because it’s easier to use. Next up, I’ll be comparing this camera against the Nikon Z63, R6 Mark II, and R5 Mark II (and if you want Z8 comparisons, tell me what tests you want ASAP).
