About This Video

In this Canon R5 Mark II accessory video, I walk through the exact add-ons I’m using to go from a simple photo setup to a practical video rig—plus how I’m handling the R5II cooling situation. Quick note up front: everything here is bought with my own money, except two of the monitors I’ll mention later. I start with what I always do first on any camera: a screen protector. This one is a thick baby, and it basically applies itself. After that, I add an EasyCover silicone skin to help prevent scratches (especially if you’re rough on gear or you care about resale value), and I show what it does and doesn’t protect. From there I get into everyday usability: I run Peak Design straps because I like being able to detach and reattach fast. Power-wise, I strongly recommend grabbing the Canon LP‑E6P battery—older batteries don’t work properly in the R5II if you want all the advertised features. For media, I share the three CFexpress brands I rotate between (Delkin, ProGrade, and Sabrent). On the video side, I tried building out the Tilta cage and ran into some real frustration: my kit didn’t include the NATO rail to mount the top handle, and the cage install is more complex than you’d expect at first. Finally, I show my $13 DIY fan cooler (I skipped Canon’s pricey grip solution), and I wrap with monitoring options: my Atomos Ninja V+ for SSD recording, and the Viltrox DC‑X3/DC550 for budget monitoring tools like vectorscope, false color, and focus peaking.
