What’s up everybody — in this video I’m back on the desk checking out two brand new Bogren Digital plugins in their Ampknob series: the Uber Metal Ampknobs BH4 and BDE 120 Mark II. These are built for heavy tones (no clean tones in sight), and the whole point is simple controls with instantly usable results. I ran my Donner Hush Pro (no DSP) straight into my Blackstar Polar 2 interface and into Reaper, then I played a bunch of drop D riffs to show what you get right out of the box. I walk through both plugins one at a time, flip between the two channels, and demo the built-in boost pedal (I definitely prefer it on because it adds bite and tightens the low end). I also compare the two cab options, and I show the noise gate in soft vs hard mode — hard mode cuts the noise super fast if you want that tighter stop-start feel. Then I grab a seven string and test both plugins in drop A for some heavier chugs. My takeaway: they sound good immediately, they’re straightforward, and they give you everything you need for high-quality high-gain tones without menu diving.
