About This Video

In this video I take a look at the Soundpeats POP Clip, one of those open-ear clip-on earphones that sit on the side of your ear instead of hooking over the top. Soundpeats sent them to me, but the video isn’t sponsored—there’s a 30% discount code in the description and it’s non-affiliate, so I don’t get anything from it and it doesn’t change what I’m hearing. My first reaction was honestly that I can’t really see myself using this style just because of how it looks when worn, but I still wanted to give it a fair shot. Fit-wise, I actually like these more than the typical sporty open-ear sets that put a driver in front of your ear and wrap around your head. The POP Clip is smaller, feels more secure, and is less likely to get bumped out of place when you’re moving around. I also appreciate physical buttons over touch controls, plus you get about 8 hours playback and a quick-charge that gives ~3 hours from 15 minutes. Sound-wise, they’re nothing special. My measurements were a bit finicky because they don’t seat on my rig the same way they do on my ear, and in person I hear slightly better bass than the graph shows—but overall they still come off dull, with a lot of the music blending together and not much definition or extension. For podcasts, videos, and low-volume background listening while staying aware of your surroundings, they’re totally adequate—just don’t expect critical listening.
