I think it’s a good IEM overall, and on the $130 early bird price it’s a pretty compelling option if you like this tuning style. At the normal ~$200 price, there’s a lot more competition, so it becomes a tougher recommendation. The big thing is whether you want a warmer, midbass-emphasized single-DD sound that still keeps decent detail.

It’s warm with a bit more midbass and ear gain than I usually prefer, plus extra treble to balance things out. The nice part is it sounds more refined than a lot of older-style single dynamic driver tunings, so it doesn’t come off shouty or shrill to me on the default setup. It can feel a little closed-in because of the warmth, but I could listen for hours without issues.

What do the interchangeable nozzles do on the MK12 Turris?

The silver nozzle has less damping, so treble and ear gain come up, and for me it crosses into “not comfy” on some songs. The red nozzle adds damping, drops treble/ear gain, and boosts bass, but I found it too dark and it starts sounding muddy and dull. I stuck with the default gold nozzle because it kept the best balance.

The shells are large and they do stick out of my ears, so the weight sits a bit farther out than I’d ideally want. But the nozzles are small, and with the right tips I actually found them comfortable for long sessions. They still felt secure and not unstable when I wore them.

On my measurements, most of the tip differences were small tweaks up in the upper treble. In real use, the bigger change is how the tip fits and seals in your ear, because seal can shift the whole balance a lot. I personally liked the CNM tips the most for comfort and long listening.

It’s not “bad,” and it doesn’t feel cheap, but I didn’t enjoy using it. It’s springy, tangles easily, and the ear hooks didn’t sit behind my ear properly, so it kept pulling the IEM outward. I ended up preferring the MK12 after swapping to a less springy cable.

Should I buy the MK12 Turris on Kickstarter or wait for retail?

If you can still get the $130 early bird price, that’s the version of this purchase that makes the most sense to me. The Kickstarter units were limited, and I was a bit late posting, so it may already be gone depending on timing. At ~$200 retail, you’re immediately comparing against a lot of strong options.
