About This Video

In this video I’m checking out the NF Acous NM20, one of the first releases after NF Audio rebranded. For full transparency, NF Acous sent these to me for review—but I’m still giving my honest take based on actually using them. I talk a bit about where the brand comes from (they’ve been around about 10 years and leaned heavily into custom stage IEMs), and why a more budget-friendly universal model like this can make sense as they branch into general listening and even gaming collabs. Build-wise, the NM20 feels kind of nostalgic—in a “this could’ve dropped four years ago” way. The shell is lightweight plastic with a frosted texture, small in my ears, and comfortable, but I do get driver flex when inserting. The 2-pin connection feels very secure, the cable is decent (less springy below the Y-split, more tangle-prone above it), and the included zip case is surprisingly sturdy. Sound is where it really screams “stage monitor.” The treble is boosted and peaky, and to my ears it comes off pretty sibilant. That treble-forward focus also makes the presentation feel narrower and more closed-in, especially with a noticeable dip through the mids; when I EQ’d down the treble with a shelf above ~4 kHz, it sounded fuller and a bit more spacious. At $120, it’s not my personal pick for relaxed home listening, but if you liked the older model’s vibe, this could still be a compelling upgrade path.
