The Koss Porta Pro has been weirdly immune to time. It’s got flaws that should make audio nerds run away—comfort quirks, a warm/dark stock tuning, and that whole “on-ear that can flatten your ears” vibe—but somehow it stays beloved across nostalgia people, TikTok retro fans, and the enthusiast crowd that loves to tweak everything. In this video I go over why the new Koss Porta Pro Wireless 2 feels like a real upgrade after all these years, and why it instantly became my daily driver for lounging around the house. Design-wise it keeps the classic Porta look, but the headband is split because the wireless electronics live in the right arm now (instead of that older receiver dangling on a wire behind your neck). Wireless controls are simple, there’s a small mic, and codec support is only SBC/AAC—yeah, not exciting. The big win is the USB-C port doubling as an analog input: I can plug in the included USB-C to 3.5mm cable and it just works without powering on, so even if the battery dies it’s still a normal Porta Pro. Sound is classic Porta Pro (warm/dark) but I talk through the small mods I do—reducing clamp, Yaxi pads, and a bit more temple pad foam—to clean it up, add top end, and balance the bass so I can stop “reviewing” for a minute and just enjoy music.
