In this video I review the Jay’s Audio x ZiiGaat Estrella (or “Esta,” however you wanna pronounce it—just not Estella). It’s a $300 hybrid IEM with 2 dynamic drivers and 4 balanced armatures, and it’s Jay’s first collab with ZiiGaat. I go over the unboxing basics (tips, case, cable), comfort, and some practical stuff like the included cable being a bit stiff/creaky and the shells feeling a little on the larger side. I also talk about the nozzle feeling a bit big for me over longer sessions, and the driver flex “crinkle” you can hear when inserting them—something that can mess with that premium first impression even if it equalizes quickly. Sound-wise, the goal here was “not boring”—more fun, dynamic, and a bit V-shaped, but still technical. To my ears it’s kind of like taking a Harman-ish target and bumping mid-bass and treble. That treble lift brings out higher harmonics and gives a fast-attack, detail-forward presentation with solid layering and separation, but it can also get sibilant and fatiguing for me, especially with that Harman ear gain region. I can see why people chasing brighter, more “technical” tuning will love it, and it seems like a great EQ platform, but stock I personally prefer something smoother for long listening sessions. I also try Jay’s suggested tape mod (covering the vent to reduce bass), but I actually prefer stock since the bass helps offset the already-hot top end.
