About This Video

In this video I tested three newer Moondrop releases—the Quark 2, Block, and Ultrasonic—because I genuinely wanted them to be easy wins. Shenzen Audio sent them out, but like always this is my full honest opinion, and yeah… I’ve got criticisms this time. I start with the Quark 2 ($17), the successor to the original Quarks. I’m happy the USB‑C cable doesn’t seem to have the DSP noise issues I’ve run into with other Moondrop DSP cables, and when I get a proper fit they sound fairly neutral with some sub-bass emphasis. The problem is the lack of front venting: I get pressure imbalance constantly, which makes them uncomfortable and can swing the tonality and even channel balance depending on how they seat. Next is the Moondrop Block ($20), a Bluetooth earbud-style set. For me it’s just too warm and congested, with a lower-mids focus and not enough bass/treble support, plus fit variance that makes consistency rough. Finally, I compare the Ultrasonic ($75) to the Space Travel ($25). Ultrasonic does improve things with a more V-shaped, more tactile presentation and more EQ presets, but at triple the price it lands in a bracket where it doesn’t feel as competitive—especially with the Bluetooth cutouts I noticed when my phone was in my pocket.
