About This Video

In this video I go over the EarAcoustics SPA Hi-End Max, a single dynamic driver IEM that EarAcoustics reached out to me about. It’s a roughly $290 set with a very “luxury” presentation: a cube-style box, a larger circular zip case (not really pocket-friendly), and a heavier cable that actually feels more premium than most stock IEM cables. The real headline is the build—CNC aluminum shells with a mirror finish and a diamond/jewelry-style faceplate that definitely stands out, even if it’s not exactly what I’d wear on a construction site. Fit-wise, they sit comfortably for me, and the weight feels balanced, but the way tips seat on the nozzle gives a shallower fit than some IEMs. That can be a comfort win for some people, but for others it might mean seal issues. Sound is where I’m more mixed: these don’t aim for neutral or a mild V—they’re a strong V-shape with boosted mid-bass and treble, kind of like a tuning style that was more common a few years back. At my usual lower volumes they’re fine and can be engaging, but when I turn them up the upper mids/low treble get harsh and sibilant for my ears. My takeaway: they don’t sound bad, but they feel a bit dated in today’s market, and the biggest reason to buy this specific version is if you really want that all-metal, mirror-finish look.
