I’m trying to ask the normal questions—budget, use case, what they actually want—and they hit me with “price is no issue” while thinking AirPods Max is the top of the mountain. So I throw out a few legit picks I’d actually consider good value in the hobby: stuff like Sennheiser HD600, HIFIMAN Edition XS, and even the FiiO FT1 if you want a closed-back with more bass. And then the whole thing derails into “wait, these don’t have Bluetooth?” and “aren’t audiophiles the gold cable crystal people?” until the punchline lands: after all that, they just want me to validate buying Bose… or Raycons… because a brand name feels safer than learning what they like. It’s a skit, but yeah—this is painfully real.
