About This Video

Hey there, SG Alco Guy here, and in this video I brought in a special guest—my girlfriend Belle—because we’re reviewing Kyrö Pink Gin (she carried it back from Helsinki for me). I unbox it, talk about the bottle (500ml, 38.2% ABV, and yes, the box is surprisingly sturdy), and then we go straight into how I like to test gin: neat first, then shaken with ice to chill it, and finally on the rocks so it dilutes and shifts the profile. Taste-wise, this one doesn’t drink like a “standard gin” to me. It’s got layers of sweetness—honestly, I joked they shouldn’t call it pink gin, they should call it sweet gin—and I got a distinct minty note right at the back (more like the throat). Neat is totally drinkable for me. When I shake it with ice, it stays similar but slightly less sweet, and I start picking up some spiciness on the sides; the mint note fades. On the rocks, it’s less sweet and a bit harsher in the mouth, but still very comfortable—zero burn going down across all three. Overall: chilled (shaken) is the easiest and most comfortable, but neat is great if you like the sweetness.
