In this video I check out the new Color E Note Pro a 10.3” colour E-Ink tablet from Penstar. I look at the 300 PPI monochrome / 150 PPI colour display, the new capacitive touch screen (no more pen-only limitation), front light, AI camera for document scanning, and how well apps like Kindle on this device. I also put the colour layer and refresh behaviour up against Gallery 3 on the Paper Pro Move so you can see the differences in saturation, speed and overall writing experience. If you’re considering a colour E-Ink note-taking tablet for reading, handwriting, sketching or light productivity, this should give you a clear idea of where the Penstar Color E Note Pro sits in the current line-up. About This Video

When Penstar emailed and asked if I wanted to be one of the first to try their new 10.3-inch colour E-Ink tablet, the Penstar Color E Note Pro, I couldn’t say no. In this video I unbox it, run through the key specs, and then actually use it the way most of us will: reading, writing, and poking at the UI to see what’s improved. You’re getting a Kaleido 3 panel (300 PPI mono / 150 PPI colour), warm + cold front light, EMR pen with 8,192 pressure levels, Android 14 (Penstar OS 2.0), an 8MP “AI cam” for document scanning, and those lovely side hardware buttons you can map to different functions. The big change for me is capacitive touch. Older Penstar eNotes were pen-only for navigation, which always felt a bit weird—now I can use my finger for Kindle and general tapping around, and it instantly makes the whole device feel more “normal” day-to-day. I also compare the colour layer and refresh behaviour against my reMarkable Paper Pro Move (Gallery 3). Penstar’s implementation is noticeably snappier with far less flashing, and the background looks whiter/brighter to my eyes, while the reMarkable can look a touch more saturated once it finishes building the colour. If you’re weighing up a colour note-taking tablet for reading, handwriting, sketching, or light productivity, this should help you see exactly where the Color E Note Pro sits right now.
