If you own a Kindle, there’s a good chance you’re only using a fraction of what it can actually do. In this video I walk through five useful Kindle features that many readers overlook, but once you know about them they can make reading and navigating books much easier. Whether you’re using a Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Scribe, Kindle Colorsoft, or another Kindle device, these small features can make a surprising difference to how you use your reader day to day. About This Video

In this video I run through five Kindle features you might not be using, but probably should—because they make a real difference to day-to-day reading. I start with Page Flip, which is my go-to way to move around a book without losing my place. Swipe up from the bottom, drag the progress slider to skim forward or back, and if you tap the little grid icon you get thumbnail pages you can jump between. The best bit is Kindle remembers where you started, so you can explore and then snap straight back to your current page. Next up is X-Ray, which (in supported books) gives you a built-in guide to characters, places, and key terms—perfect for when you’re halfway through a novel and suddenly realise you’ve forgotten who someone is. I also cover Vocabulary Builder, which quietly collects the words you look up and can turn them into flashcards later. Then there’s a genuinely useful accessibility option: Large Interface, which enlarges menus and library text (not the book text)—though I do wish there was a middle setting, because “large” is quite… large. Finally, yes, Kindles can take screenshots: tap two opposite corners, and you’ll find the image saved on the device when you plug it into a computer.
