Amazon’s just unveiled three new Kindle Scribes, and this refresh is a bigger deal than it first looks. In the video I break down the lineup: an entry model with no front light (very much for people who mainly write), a standard Scribe with an adjustable front light, and the headline device—the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft—Amazon’s first colour Scribe. All three share the new redesign: 11-inch display, about 5.4mm thin, roughly 400g, with even bezels all the way around (goodbye old “side chin”), and new colour options like graphite and that fig/purple shade. I also dig into what’s actually changed for note-takers: a quick note space on the home screen, search in notebooks, and new AI tools that can summarise up to 15 pages and tidy your handwriting into neat script. Colorsoft adds 10 pen colours, five highlighter shades, plus a shading tool—so PDFs, textbooks, diagrams and highlights finally pop in a way grayscale just can’t. On the reading side, Amazon’s adding “Story so far” recaps and “Ask this book” Q&A across the platform. Pricing is… ouch (Colorsoft at $629 in the US), and I’m gutted the UK has to wait until early next year—but I’ll review the Colorsoft properly when it lands here.
