Apple’s recently launched the new M5 iPad Pro, promising faster AI performance, Wi-Fi 7, improved RAM, and quicker charging. But is it really worth moving on from the M4? About This Video

Apple finally showed off the M5 iPad Pro, and in this super-quick breakdown I run through all the meaningful spec changes—then answer the real question: is it actually worth upgrading from the M4? The headline is the new M5 silicon. Apple’s talking up the GPU gains most of all, with neural accelerators that should make GPU-based AI workloads up to 4x faster than last year’s M4. The CPU bump is more modest at around 15%, which isn’t mindblowing, but it’s still a nice quality-of-life improvement if you’re pushing your iPad hard. I also cover the practical upgrades that matter day-to-day: RAM and storage improvements (12GB now on the 256GB/512GB models, with 16GB staying on 1TB/2TB), faster memory bandwidth (150GB/s), and storage reads that are roughly twice as fast. Charging gets a real boost too—fast charging up to 50% in 35 minutes with Apple’s 40W dynamic power adapter (or any 60W+ USB-C charger). On the connectivity side, there’s a new N1 wireless chip bringing Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, plus a new C1X 5G modem in cellular models. But the design and display are basically unchanged, and if you already own an M4 iPad Pro, I don’t see much reason to upgrade.
