Wireless charging is convenient, but when you actually need a quick top-up, cables still win. With USB-C capable of fast charging and serious data speeds, not all cables are created equal. In this video, I take a look at several USB-C cables sent over by Linus Media Group, including a high-end USB-C to USB-C cable rated for up to 240W of power and 40Gbps data. I test them using a USB-C cable tester to check power delivery, data capability, and whether they include proper E-Marker chips. I also talk about build quality, cable thickness, strain relief, and why using cheaper cables can be a risk. About This Video

Wireless charging is great for overnight, but when I need a quick boost so I can crack on with my day, cables still win. In this video I take a look at three USB cables Linus Media Group sent over (no obligation to make anything on them), and I put them through a proper check using a USB-C cable tester. The headline cable is a USB‑C to USB‑C rated for up to 240W power and 40Gbps data, and I wanted to see if it actually does what it says on the tin. The big thing I focus on is the E‑Marker chip. On quality USB‑C cables, that chip helps the cable and device “talk” so power delivery is handled properly—trickle when it needs to trickle, boost when it needs to boost—rather than relying on guesswork. I also compare the longer 3m USB‑C cable (great for charging, but only USB 2.0/480Mbps for data) and the USB‑A option (15W, 10Gbps, and no E‑Marker because… USB‑A). On top of the tester results, I chat build quality: these are thicker than my usual cables, feel well-shielded, have solid strain relief where cables normally split first, and come with handy Velcro cable management.
