Rekindle (rekindle.ink) is a free web app that runs inside the Kindle Scribe’s built-in browser and adds extra functionality without hacking or jailbreaking. It gives the Scribe a simple dashboard with tools like a calendar, tasks, weather and reference apps, all designed to work within the limits of E Ink. It doesn’t turn the Kindle Scribe into an iPad, but it does give the Scribe more capabilities, and it costs nothing to try! ——— 📩 Subscribe to my regular(ish) newsletter - https://markdkelly.substack.com ☕️ Buy me a virtual coffee - https://www.buymeacoffee.com/markdkelly75 I've collated a massive list of all my favourite things on my website 👉🏻 https://www.markkelly.me/affiliate-links Come follow me here: ✖️https://x.com/markdkelly75 🧵 https://www.threads.net/@markdkelly75 📷 https://www.instagram.com/markdkelly75 Disclaimer: Some of the product links in this description are affiliate links. About This Video

In this video I’m looking at Rekindle (rekindle.ink), a free web app that runs entirely inside the Kindle Scribe’s built-in (experimental) browser. No hacking, no jailbreaking, no installs—just load the site and you get a simple dashboard that feels like a custom home screen, especially on a big screen like the Scribe. The design leans into that early Apple-style grey icon vibe, which actually makes a lot of sense on E Ink where refresh rates and ghosting are always part of the deal. I walk through what it can do: essentials like calendar, contacts, and weather; practical tools like tasks, timers, and a calculator; and reference apps like Wikipedia and Reddit, plus a couple of games. None of this replaces proper phone or tablet apps—and it definitely doesn’t turn your Kindle into an iPad—but that’s not the point. The interesting bit is how it extends a locked-down e-reader without adding the complexity (and distraction) you often get on Android-based E Ink tablets. For Scribe owners, it’s a genuinely fun experiment that costs nothing to try, and it’s a reminder that these E Ink devices may still have some untapped potential.
