About This Video

In this August reading wrap up, I’m chatting through every book I read this month and ranking them from least favorite to favorite (because honestly…I didn’t read a bad book). I’ve been working really diligently through my physical TBR (we’re talking around 130 books), and after only reading three books in July, I challenged myself to double it in August. I’m so proud to say I read eight books, seven of them from my physical TBR, plus one soft DNF. Before I start yapping about each one, I share my reading stats: eight books, 2,953 pages, and a mix of genres—mystery, historical fiction, coming-of-age, general fiction, romance, and more. Then I get into the ranking: from cozy, spicy small-town romances like Powerless and Done and Dusted, to summer drama with 28 Summers, to rich-people family chaos in These Summer Storms (highly recommend the audiobook for the extra drama). My top reads were the ones that made me feel everything: Mary Jane was such a sweet coming-of-age perspective (especially as a mom), James was intense and movie-like with an epic ending, and The Names was a brilliant debut that wrecked me in the best way. But my favorite book of the month was The God of the Woods—a slow-burn mystery that absolutely did not drag for me. I devoured it.
