About This Video

In this video I’m pulling my August TBR, but I’m making it a challenge because I’m blindly picking from my priority physical TBR cart using a random number generator. I’ve been little by little working through my physical TBR (I’m sitting around 140 unread, give or take) and I’m trying to get it below 100 before the new year. I’ve also been super disciplined lately—no library, no Libby, no Kindle (even though a couple of these are on KU)—because I mean business about getting through what I already own. I used to read 8–10 books a month and now I’m more like 3–4, so I wanted a bigger goal without overthinking it. I picked eight books total, and I love this method because it’s fast and it takes the decision fatigue out of it (TBR jars are just too much prep for me). The final stack feels really well-rounded: historical fiction (James), coming-of-age vibes (Mary Jane), summer romance (28 Summers), two small-town/cowboy romances (Powerless and Done and Dusted), an easy-to-binge YA fantasy sequel (The Ballad of Never After), lit fic/alternate reality energy (The Names), and a chunky mystery for August (The God of the Woods). If I get through even half, I’m calling it a win—now it’s time to go be a mom.
