About This Video

Good morning, friends! In this vlog I’m two days out from our spring break trip, and it feels like there’s a lot on my mind and a lot on my to-do list. I get everybody started on homeschool lessons (because even when we’re prepping to leave, I still want a solid school day), and then I start working through all the “little things” that add up—laundry buckets, packing, and also prepping the house for being away. I’m also thinking through using up what’s in the fridge, ordering a few groceries for the road, and making sure church ministries are covered while we’re gone. Since this is our first time ever going somewhere warm while it’s wintertime here (and we’re staring at snow out the window), I’m digging out summer clothing buckets—shorts, T-shirts, and even warm-weather pajamas. I share how I keep packing simple for the kids with a whiteboard checklist so they can pack their own bags, but I still know everyone has what they need. I also prep easy road trip snacks like dried apples in my dehydrator and a big batch of sourdough crackers, plus I talk through my “I can just make muffins” moment when I’m trying to simplify. We end the day with read-aloud time (Little Britches—so good), folding laundry, and feeling really content with what we got accomplished.
