About This Video

In this video I reviewed the KZ Duet, a gaming-oriented earbud that KZ basically marketed as “boom boom bass” in earbud form. KZ sent it over, but as always this is 100% my honest take. I went through the super minimal KZ unboxing, the included “gift” silicone sleeve (with eartips), and the build on my Obsidian Black unit—translucent resin with a metal section. Comfort-wise it fit me almost like Apple EarPods, and if you can’t get a stable fit, that sleeve is there to turn it into more of an IEM-style seal (sadly only one size). For sound, my setup was the KZ Duet + Poco M6 Pro, streaming Apple Music across J-pop, rock, EDM, metal, jazz, and a lot of rap lately. The Duet is bassy even without the sleeve, and with the sleeve it straight up becomes a basshead “IEM-ish” earbud. Mids are natural, forward, and not shouty, with minimal metallic timbre; treble is sparkly and can be a bit too sparkly for me without the sleeve (which I think is intentional to offset the bass boost when you do use tips). Technicalities are strong for around $20: huge symmetrical stage, good separation/positioning for FPS gaming, decent detail, and my usual “2.5D” imaging description. I also compared it to Apple EarPods Type‑C: EarPods win comfort and mic, but the Duet wins stage and gaming positioning (and brings more fun bass/treble).
