About This Video

In this video I’m looking at three often overlooked HIFIMAN IEM “hidden gems”: the RE400, RE800 Silver, and RE2000 Silver. Because of the massive price drops, all three became genuinely interesting buys again, so I went through build, fit, accessories, and—most importantly—how they actually sound. I also explain why the RE800 is not a direct upgrade over the RE400 despite the numbering, and why the RE2000 is the real step up in the lineup. The RE400 is a bright-neutral IEM with fast, controlled bass (but not much quantity), good detail for the money, and a wide, spacious stage that immediately stands out at $19.99—honestly a blind buy if you like that signature. The RE800 Silver has a different philosophy: more authority in the bass (still quality over quantity), a natural and very clear midrange that can get borderline intrusive up top, and lots of treble energy with a coherent, lively presentation. And the RE2000 Silver shocked me: it’s a true detail monster from a single dynamic driver, with a mild W-shaped tonality, strong bass, refined airy treble, exemplary separation, and a wide/deep stage—at $349 it disrupts its bracket, but I still recommend trying it for fit first.
