About This Video

In this review I take a close look at the HIFIMAN RE2000 Pro Silver (RE2000 Silver) in-ear monitors—and why, at today’s pricing, it can genuinely disrupt the IEM market. This model originally launched around $1,500, later dropped to $799, and now you can often find it around $349. I go through the full experience: unboxing, accessories, the industrial-looking aluminum shells, fit (which surprised me in a good way), and the proprietary detachable cable situation—because yes, at the old MSRP I’d expect a better, more modular cable. On the technical side, RE2000 Silver uses a 9.2mm single dynamic driver with HIFIMAN’s “topology diaphragm” coating, plus an enclosure that clearly plays a big role in the final tuning. It’s rated at 60 ohms / 103 dB, and while it’ll run from portable sources, I strongly recommend pairing it with a capable DAC/amp (at least ~60 mW at 32 ohms) because it scales really well. Soundwise, this is a detail monster with a mild W-shaped presentation: prominent, controlled bass with great extension and punch; mids slightly behind but still clear and correct; and a refined, airy treble with lots of sparkle. Microdetail, separation, and the wide/deep stage are standout strengths—especially with well-recorded music—making it one of the best-sounding IEMs in this price bracket if you can get a good fit.
