About This Video

In this video I review the iFi GO Blu — a compact portable Bluetooth DAC/amp that surprised me with just how complete it feels in real-world use. I go through the unboxing, design, and build (soft-touch plastic with brushed aluminum accents), and then break down the key specs: Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC, Qualcomm QCC5100 Bluetooth, support for codecs like AAC and aptX, plus both 3.5mm (S-Balanced) and 4.4mm balanced outputs. For a device this small (27g), the output power is genuinely impressive, and I also like that it automatically adapts gain to the headphone impedance. I spent most of my time testing it with a Samsung Galaxy S10 and an iPhone 12 Pro Max, using USB Audio Player Pro for FLAC and Tidal for lossless streaming. Bluetooth was stable for me with no interruptions, and the controls are honestly one of the GO Blu’s biggest strengths: the tactile metal volume wheel, simple button logic, codec/sample-rate voice readout, and the EQ presets. XBass is a fun bass shelf for lean headphones, while XSpace can help darker sets feel more open. Sound-wise, I don’t believe DACs drastically change sound, but the amp section can — and to me the GO Blu comes across natural, musical, and slightly warm. It drove all my IEMs easily and did a surprisingly strong job with full-size headphones too, and I was getting around 9–11 hours of battery life. Overall, it’s a stylish, powerful, feature-rich portable Bluetooth DAC/amp that hits a really smart balance of price, performance, and usability.
