About This Video

In this video I’m sharing my 1-year long experience with the Focal Elegia—my personal pair, no sponsors, just my real impressions. I go through the unboxing, accessories, and the design details Focal is known for, but I also point out the weak spots: the plastic in the headband mechanism, the inner perforated leather that can discolor, the expensive $100 replacement pads, and the frankly awful stock cable (short, tangly, lots of memory). Comfort is a big highlight for me: the fit is excellent, my large ears fit fully inside the pads, and even during long sessions I didn’t get hot spots. Sound-wise, I explain why Elegia can feel “strange” out of the box—linear/neutral bass, forward mids, but uneven treble that made it sound muffled to me. The turning point was EQ: I used the Oratory1990 Harman preset, and it basically removed the “veil,” improved bass slam and sub-bass presence, and made the treble more linear and detailed (not perfect, but much more organic). I also compare it to DT 1770, NDH 20, SRH1540, and even my K872 Pro, and I explain where Elegia lands in tuning, bass/mids/treble, comfort, and technical performance. My takeaway: if your budget allows it and you’re okay with EQ, Elegia is a strong closed-back entry into the Focal lineup.
