About This Video

Something very exciting finally showed up in my mail: the Moment 1.33x Anamorphic Adapter I backed on Kickstarter last June. In this video I do a quick unboxing, go over what’s in the box (the adapter, a setup guide, and step-up rings), and show you what the adapter actually looks like up close—plus that cute “long live the picture taker” message inside the packaging (love that). I also talk through the key specs you’ll want to know, like the 82mm filter thread on the front and the fact that the adapter is solid metal and pretty heavy at 880g. Then I set it up and shoot simple test footage so you can see what you’re getting. I mount it to my Sony 55mm f/1.8 using a step-up ring, align the adapter orientation (don’t skip this), set my taking lens to infinity, and focus using the adapter since it’s single-focus. I show the squeezed out-of-camera look and remind you that you’ll need to de-squeeze 1.33x in post. Finally, I compare with vs. without the adapter (the wider field of view is obvious), try to show some flares and rack focus, and share my first impression: so far, I recommend it—really well built and it looks great.
