About This Video

In this spring maintenance video, I take you along while I do real preventative maintenance on my friend’s Integra Odyssey and my own RV. I’ve already done my A/C cleaning (I link that other video), but I still show you what I see all the time out here—filters and compartments that get absolutely caked with desert dust. I pull the A/C filter, show the buildup inside the return area, and talk about why I stay on top of it: I’m thankful my old Dometic Penguin is still running, and I want it to keep going as long as it can. Then we get into the yearly stuff that saves you from those “why did my appliance quit?” headaches: flushing the water heater, cleaning out the furnace compartment (especially around the sail switch area), and checking behind the refrigerator for dust and bugs. I show you the difference between an anode rod vs a cap (and my little memory trick: Atwood “A” is a cap, Suburban is the one with the anode rod). We finish up on the roof with a tiny sealant hole repair—clean the area, let it dry, then lay down a thick bead of Dicor self-leveling sealant and let it do its thing.
