A dealership told my client that this 2016 Newmar Dutch Star had already gone through a full PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) and everything was good to go. But after he purchased the RV and started using it, things didn’t seem right. So he hired me to perform a professional RV inspection after the purchase… and what I found could have cost him thousands of dollars in repairs. In this video I walk you through several major issues that were discovered, including: Severe roof sealant failure that required full replacement Oasis hydronic heating system malfunction Residential refrigerator not cooling Electrical shade system failures Generator access cable failure Entry steps slamming to the ground Leveling system faults that may indicate airbag issues This is exactly why an RV inspection before purchasing is so important. Once you sign the paperwork and take the RV off the lot, your negotiating power is usually gone. 📋 Want a FREE RV inspection checklist? About This Video

In this video I walk you through a real post-purchase inspection on a 2016 Newmar Dutch Star where the dealer told my client the PDI was “extensive” and everything was good to go. Once he started using the coach, he knew things weren’t right—so he hired me to do a professional inspection and create a report he could take back to the dealership. This is exactly the situation I hate seeing, because the negotiating power usually disappears the second you sign and drive off the lot. The biggest exterior issue was the roof: the sealant had deep cracking everywhere and looked like factory sealant that was never maintained. This was not a “throw some Dicor on it” situation—it needed to be scraped, cleaned, and fully replaced, which is time-consuming and expensive. I also found sealant problems around windows and trim, entry steps that slammed to the ground, and a generator bay that was difficult to open—with a broken cable that kept the generator from sliding out normally. Inside, it got worse: multiple electric shade failures (which I see constantly on higher-end coaches), an Oasis hydronic system that wouldn’t run the furnace, a residential refrigerator that wouldn’t cool at all, and a leveling system fault that may point to airbag issues. My takeaway is simple: a dealer PDI is not the same as a certified RV inspection, and skipping an inspection can cost you thousands.
