If your RV sealant is cracking, separating, or just not holding up… this is for you. In this video, I walk you through how I removed old RV sealant and reapplied a new product after trying multiple options over the years. My previous sealant lasted for a while, but eventually failed—so I decided to try something different this time. I’ll show you: ✔️ How to remove old sealant safely ✔️ How to properly clean and prep the surface ✔️ The tools I use (simple and affordable) ✔️ How I apply new sealant (and what I’m still learning!) ✔️ A new adhesive-style sealant I’m testing on my RV This is real-world RV maintenance—not perfect, but practical. If you're a DIY RVer or just want to better understand how sealant works and fails over time, this will help you avoid costly water damage. Sealant is one of the MOST important things to stay on top of in your RV, especially around seams, end caps, and roof components. 🛠 PRODUCTS MENTIONED Chem Link M1 adhesive sealant: https://amzn.to/4uM4lt9 (Other types of Chemlink must be ordered from a distributer) Simple Green (cleaning)https://amzn.to/4dIHOY2 Isopropyl Alcohol (final prep)https://amzn.to/4c42fwv Plastic scraper tools (safe for RV surfaces)https://amzn.to/4cZgTXO CHANNEL CREDIT: https://youtube.com/@RVROOFINSTALL?si=NQ9DNBnNwb-1-H06 📋 Want a FREE RV inspection checklist? About This Video

My job in this video was simple (and also kind of gross): scrape off old, failing RV sealant and try to seal it better this time. I’ve got gaps showing up on my rear fiberglass end cap where the sidewall meets—my old sealant lasted a while, but after a couple years it started separating and cracking. I show you exactly how I remove it with cheap plastic scraper tools (super satisfying, by the way), what I found underneath (yep… water definitely got back there), and how I clean and prep the area so the new sealant actually has a chance to stick. I walk through my cleaning process using Simple Green, then rinsing/wiping, and finishing with 90% isopropyl alcohol so there’s no cleaner residue left behind. Then I apply a new adhesive-style sealant I’m testing: Chem Link (they sent me M1 and Duralink 50). I’m not pretending I’m a pro at laying a perfect bead—sealant takes practice—so I also share what I’m still learning (small bead, don’t press too hard when tooling). The big takeaway: staying on top of sealant is one of the best ways to prevent expensive water damage, especially around seams and end caps.
