About This Video

In this video I finally upgraded my Lazy Daze motorhome with two new awnings—one window awning on the driver’s side and one main patio awning on the door side—professionally installed by Joseph from Shade Pro out in Quartzsite. Since I bought this coach, I haven’t had a working awning, and the sun has been absolutely baking the inside. I’ve been relying on Reflectix just to keep the heat down, so getting real shade on the rig was long overdue. I chose manual Carefree Fiesta awnings on purpose. I’m a big fan of simple and reliable—less electronics, easier maintenance, and fewer things to fail when you’re out traveling. Joseph walks through smart install details that matter for any RV owner: keeping the rail straight (don’t run screws in one-by-one down the line), sealing every hole and screw to prevent leaks, and using the correct set screw placement so the fabric doesn’t shift. He also shows practical usage tips like twisting the pull strap to reduce vibration noise, how to open/close the awning step-by-step, and how to avoid bringing it in crooked when you’re solo. My takeaway: do it safely, seal everything, and pick upgrades that make sense for how you actually RV.
