The sales guy at this dealership told my clients there was “no need for an inspection.” He said they had the best technicians and premium RVs. My clients were from out of state and couldn’t see this RV in person, so they hired me anyway. This 2020 Forest River Forester looked clean at first glance… but what I found during the inspection told a very different story. 🔎 32 flagged items ⚡ Hot skin detected 💧 Active water leak inside 🪵 Severe cab-over rot ⛽ Generator issues 🔥 Propane system not testable The roof had loose roofing material and cracked sealant. There was active water intrusion. The cab-over walls were rotted on both sides. And the hot skin issue turned out to be related to dead batteries and a converter constantly trying to charge them. This is exactly why inspections matter — especially for out-of-state buyers and consignment lots. 📋 Want a FREE RV inspection checklist? About This Video

In this video, I’m out at a consignment lot inspecting a 2020 Forest River Forester for my out-of-state clients from Baltimore—after the sales guy tried to tell them there was “no need for an inspection” because they have the “best techs” and “premium RVs.” That kind of talk makes my spidey senses go up, because my job isn’t to sell warranties or make dealers feel comfortable—my job is to help my clients not buy a lemon. This one looked clean at first glance… until I started doing what I always do. On the roof, I found cracked and holed sealant everywhere, plus roofing material separating from the decking up front, and even a skylight hole—big water-intrusion red flags. Outside, I documented a hot skin reading around the steps (over 5V AC), and with help from my friend Scott I learned how dead batteries and a converter constantly trying to charge can create that “skipping/jumping” voltage situation. Inside, I walked into active water on the floor, and when I turned on the pump, water flew out from under the sink due to a loose filter connection. Then the deal-sealer: severe cab-over rot on both sides with clear water staining. This is exactly why you don’t let a dealer talk you out of an inspection—especially on consignment lots and long-distance buys.
